Our mission
Recognizing the growing importance of the Asian business sector, the Asian Culture Transfer program (ACT) aims to build and foster relationships between students from Asian universities and students from the University of St. Gallen.
During the program, which lasts three weeks, both countries will have the opportunity to visit and get to know each other. Apart from various social activities in both countries the forty participants will take part in several workshops and company visits. Doing so, the participants will not only gain insight into different economical issues but furthermore into different ways of living and working together. The four pillars the ACT program is built on are cultural differences in economy, education, society and politics. Taking part in the ACT program will help the participants to gain a deeper insight into two diverse cultures and thus encourage a unique understanding for each other.
ACT first started in 1998, organizing an exchange project with the Hitotsubashi University of Tokyo. Since then, ACT has visited universities in Singapore, China, India, Malaysia, Thailand and South Korea. In the last few years, the program has taken place in collaboration with St. Xaviers College in Mumbai (2006), with the Tokyo Intercollegiate Culture Transfer (TIC) uniting six universities in Tokyo (2007), with the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2008) and most recently with the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates. Last year ACT was able to get on of the leading universities of China for its program, the Tsinghua University in Beijing. For photos of the ACT 2010 and ACT 2011 please visit Past Events.
